There is a lot that is wrong with the fact that Virgil Goode (R-Big Oil) is having a little lunch with the #4 lobbying firm in Washington DC. There is so much wrong with it, in fact, that I am not sure I can do it justice in one story.
September 11th is a day that most Americans reserve for thoughts of the day in 2001 when our government failed to protect us and we were attacked. Everyone I know was affected by the events that day in New York City, Pennsylvania, and Washington, DC.
Even in the white-hot heat of a Presidential Election campaign, both candidates have agreed to attend together at Ground Zero to commemorate that awful day.
But not Virgil Goode.
He would rather lunch with the in crowd. VSA, the lobbying shop that is hosting this abomination, is primarily a government relations and government access firm. That means they have among their clients a lot of universities, institutions, and city/county governments.
I don’t need a ouija board to tell me that since Virgil Goode is on the Appropriations Committee (what he traded his membership in the Democratic Party for), most of the fatcats at the ‘lunch’ will want ‘face’ time with good ol’ Virgil. He is very accommodating.
Just ask Mitchell Wade.
Virgil, I thought you were an idiot when your solution to the health care crisis was to get the illegal immigrants out. But when you decided to PARTY at a place that is a STONE’S THROW from a 9/11 tragedy, you broke the camel’s back.
Goode, we have not forgotten the innocent victims that were burned to death, jumped from the windows and fell to their death, etc.
Whether Goode cancels his party or not, every time I see a GOODE sign or hear his name, see him on TV, or read a newspaper ad, I will remember his selfishness and greed to raise money and PARTY on such a sacred day of mourning in America!
He has disgraced our Republican Party.
We will not forget what you have done when we go to the polls.
Retirer or Resign
On September 11th, 2008 Representative Virgil Goode was the beneficiary of a corporate fundraiser across the street from the US Capitol for his wealthiest special interests.
Unfortunately, while Goode is willing to advertise his seat on the Appropriations Committee to corporate special interests and PACs, he isn’t interested in hearing the voice of one concerned citizen who tried to attend for $20.
The Appropriations Committee seat “Irrelevant?” Hardly. Check out this video from the event.
